Hi, my name is Michaela. I am an enthusiastic freelance photographer and film-maker; creative, easy-going and passionate about people and story-telling.

I was born and raised in Namibia, Africa. Currently I am enjoying life with my husband in Madison/Wisconsin, but a part of my heart still lingers there in my grandmother’s house and beneath the cool shade of the Camelthorn tree. Before I married and moved to the States in 2012, I spent four unforgettable years in Cape Town as a film student.

I enjoy the challenge of seizing private moments (those in which my subjects aren't aware that a lens is watching) and always strive to capture the true personalities of the people I work with. I love playing with natural light in the pictures I take and prefer keeping things as natural and candid as possible.

My aim is to create beautiful and honest images; pictures that speak the truth and reflect life the way it is. I want people to step in front of my camera feeling at ease with who they are and knowing that I appreciate them. I am incredibly grateful that I get to do what I love to do most; observing people, documenting life and celebrating the beautiful things God has made.
